Microsoft is now firmly an AI corporation, with plans to mold itself around an AI future. Microsoft today announced an internal reorganization, with products such as Bing, Edge, and Copilot going to a new “Microsoft AI” branch led by DeepMind and Inflection co-founder Mustafa Suleyman.

Mustafa Suleyman will become Executive Vice President and CEO of Microsoft AI, joining Microsoft’s senior leadership team and reporting directly to CEO Satya Nadella. This new Microsoft AI organization will work to advance Copilot and other consumer AI products and research.

As part of the reorganization, Mikhail Parakhin and his team, which includes products like Bing, Edge, and Copilot, will be relocated to Microsoft AI and report directly to Suleyman. Before, Parakhin was reporting to Rajesh Jha, who remains as Exe-Vice President of Experiences & Devices at Microsoft.

Microsoft makes no mention of where Windows will go with this Latest reorganization. When former Windows leader Panos Panay left last year, Windows was placed under Mikhail Parakhin, but Microsoft’s press release on today’s reorganization does not identify Windows as transferring with him to the Microsoft AI organization.

Does this indicate that Rajesh Jha and the Experiences and Devices organization will continue to manage Windows? If so, who is currently in charge of Windows? If Windows did relocate with Mikhail, it means it is now part of Microsoft’s AI group, which is a significant development.
