Melbourne Chancellors Scholarship

Benefits:

  • For Domestic Students:

    • Comprehensive coverage for the Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) Student Contribution throughout the duration of an undergraduate degree, a concurrent diploma, and 25 credit points of single subject enrolments.
    • A living allowance for up to three years, valued at $5,000 annually for those studying in Victoria, or $10,000 per year for those studying outside Victoria. This allowance may be extended by an additional year if enrolling in a bachelor (extended) course or a concurrent diploma alongside the undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne.
    • Melbourne Global Scholars Award of up to $2,500 for an approved period of overseas study, whether as an Exchange or Study Abroad student.
    • Guaranteed Commonwealth Supported Place in a professional master’s degree, provided that all prerequisite and entry requirements are met.
  • For International Students:

    • 50% remission of tuition fees for the standard duration of a Bachelor’s degree.
    • Melbourne Global Scholars Award of up to $2,500 for an approved period of overseas study, as either an Exchange or Study Abroad student.
    • Guaranteed International Full Fee place in a professional master’s degree, contingent on meeting the necessary prerequisites and entry requirements.

Conditions:

This scholarship adheres to the Coursework Scholarships Terms & Conditions and may be deferred to the subsequent academic year. Recipients must maintain an average result of no less than 70 per half-year study period.

For international students who obtain Australian permanent residency, the tuition fee sponsorship will transition to an Australian Fee Place or be replaced with a full CSP Student Contribution sponsorship and the corresponding living allowance for the remaining scholarship duration.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria:

Eligibility: To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen, and have completed Australian Year 12 or the International Baccalaureate in Australia.
  • Alternatively, be an Australian citizen who has completed Australian Year 12 or the International Baccalaureate outside Australia.
  • Be a non-Australian citizen who has completed Australian Year 12 or IB in Australia.
  • Have not completed tertiary subjects (except those part of an extension program).
  • Have applied for an undergraduate course at the University of Melbourne via VTAC for the year following the completion of Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate.
  • Fulfill the entry requirements for the University of Melbourne course indicated in their VTAC application and meet one of the following criteria:
    • Achieve an ATAR of at least 99.90.
    • Intend to pursue a Bachelor of Music, achieving an ATAR of at least 99.85 and an audition score of A+.
    • Be of Indigenous Australian descent with an ATAR of at least 90.

How to Apply:

Eligible students who apply for admission to the University through VTAC will automatically be considered for the Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship.

Outcome Notification:

Initial offers are extended shortly after the release of Victorian Year 12 ATAR results in December. Additional offers are made in January and February to students who have completed IB or Year 12 outside Victoria. Scholarship offers are distinct from offers of admission to a University of Melbourne undergraduate degree; course offers are issued separately through VTAC.
