There was a time when taking an engineering degree meant securing the future. Engineers for Jobs There used to be a lot of demand for engineers and huge packages, but these days something different is being seen. It has become difficult for engineers from many big colleges to get a job from the campus, which is a matter of tension, because the situation of IIT students is also the same.
It is not that placements have stopped completely (yes, this is also the case with some colleges), but when you look at the statistics of big colleges (like IITs), it comes to light that the number of students who do not get jobs is quite high. It has increased. A big reason for this – the skills of the students becoming engineers and the expectations of the industry are not matching.
A recent report has revealed that according to the data of 23 IITs, 8000 students have not got jobs. This figure was 4170 in 2023, and 3400 in 2022, which is a bit scary.
These could be the reasons for not getting a job –
1. Skill – Expectation gap: Engineers for Jobs
As said earlier, there is a gap in the skills of the students who become engineers and the expectations of the industry, due to which it is becoming difficult for them to get jobs.
2. Relying on Campus Placements:
Many people make this mistake of relying on the campus for their placement. But you have to understand that it is good if the college gives you placement, but you should not depend on them. You should try yourself, because nowadays the number of graduates has increased a lot, due to which it is becoming difficult for everyone to get a job.
3. Expectations of higher salary
I don’t know why, but there are some salary expectations. Meaning, some people think that because they have become engineers, it means they will get whatever salary they ask for. But you have to look at all the things, like considering the current economic issues, if you expect more salary, then the company will look for someone else. Engineers for Jobs.
4. Learning approach
Many engineering colleges make children focus only on theory, due to which they get very little practical experience, due to which they face difficulty in fitting into the industry.
5. Artificial Intelligence:
Today we are standing at a mode where after some time Artificial Intelligence will be able to do everything that a human can do on a computer. So understand that you will have to go beyond what you have learned so far, so that you always have opportunities.
To reduce this gap, you will have to acquire skills according to the demand of the industry, and always have the strength to keep learning something new.
