India’s Residential Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme – 2024 The National Portal for Rooftop Solar was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, on July 30, 2022. The launch event was attended by Shri R. K. Singh, Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy (NRE), and Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, Minister of State (MoS) for Power and Heavy Industries. Shri Bhagwanth Khuba, MoS, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), participated in the event virtually.
Step 1: Register on Sandes App and National Portal
- Download the Sandes App and register on the National Portal.
- Provide state, electricity distribution company, electricity consumer number, mobile number, and email.
Step 2: Login and Apply
- Log in using your consumer number and mobile number.
- Fill out the rooftop solar application form.
Step 3: Wait for Feasibility Approval
- Wait for feasibility approval from the DISCOM (Distribution Company).
- Once approved, proceed to install the solar plant using a registered vendor.
Step 4: Submit Plant Details and Apply for Net Meter
- After installation, submit plant details.
- Apply for a net meter.
Step 5: Commissioning Certificate
- After the net meter installation and DISCOM inspection, a commissioning certificate will be generated on the portal.
Step 6: Submit Bank Details for Subsidy India’s residential rooftop solar subsidy scheme – 2024
- Submit bank account details and a canceled cheque through the portal.
- The subsidy will be credited to your account within 30 working days.
Throughout the process, consumers can track their application online on the National Portal for Rooftop Solar. Remember that the DISCOM’s role is limited to technical feasibility approval, net meter installation, and system inspection. The vendor and the consumer mutually decide the rate of the rooftop solar plant.
